The first weekend of April at Asilomar Conference Center in Pacific Grove, CA was the time and place for the Fifth National Clinical Conference on Cannabis Therapeutics where the theme was - Cannabis: Re-Entering Mainstream Medicine. Sponsored by Patients Out of Time @ www.medicalcannabis.com , this two day conference was packed with new findings on the medical benefits of medical marijuana and the frustration in efforts to get national policy changes to reflect what science has proven.
New studies regarding regular marijuana smoking and pulmonary or pulmonary-related diseases were explained by the studies author, Dr. Donald Tashkin. No relationship was found in the cohort and population based study other than, perhaps, a protective effect. The following is the list of presentations of studies by doctors from around the world in the varied realm of cannabis research.
"Cannabis From A Physician's Perspective" "Cannabis Yields and Dosage" "Cannabis: When Not Recommended" "Cannabis Tea In The Netherlands" "Cannabis As Hemp and Nutrition" "Clinical and Laboratory Medical Cannabis Results from Israel" "Effects of Smoked Cannabis on Chronic Neuropathic Pain" "Cannabis and Brain Tumors" "Cannabinoids and Movement Disorders" "Cannabis in Pain and Palliative Care" "Marijuana and Mental Health" "Nursing, Ethics, and Cannabis" Medical Cannabis: "The Challenge of Educating Mainstream Medical Professionals" "Cannabis Use and Pregnancy" "Compassion Clubs of California" "Putting Compassion in Compassion Clubs" "DEA/NIDA and the Obstruction of Privately Funded Research" "Cannabis: Re-entering Mainstream Jouralism" "Medical Cannabis and the Public Policy Process"
This conference was co-sponsored by U.C. San Francisco and offered C.M.E. accreditation. Patients Out of Time did a wonderful, super-informative job, and to get such a stellar group of doctors, scientists, and nurses together to diseminate such a wealth of knowledge of medical marijuana was incredible. Their website - www.medicalcannabis.com has a list of the faculty and, not only great reference material, but also many videos of these presentations. Please check them out. -Matt |
